Yo Gabba Gabba

This is what Micah is "into" these days. Every night it's You Gabba Gabba he wants to watch. If you've never heard of it, it's on Nick Jr and they sing and dance silly songs. My nephew Panya was doing his homework the other night in the same room and was watching it too, he said the songs are catchy. I have an ebay bid on the dvd since I can't find it anywhere and we have to watch it on the internet everytime Micah asks for it which is quite often. Kenzie knows every character's name although she's not into it as much. The pink daisy girl is her favorite. Even Lam's mom knows all their names by now.

Bridal Shower

I threw a bridal shower for my friend Amy this weekend. She's the one in purple. It turned out pretty good. Kenzie was such a good helper. She assembled all the champagne glasses and helped me decorate and play games. It was 4.5 hours from the time we started decorating to the time we finished cleaning up and she was such a great trooper. She kept asking me if it was time to go home before the guests arrived though.

Color challenge

Completed this layout for Gretchen's color challenge using coral, aqua, turquoise, and red.

Delectable!

Finally, the "after" pictures of my newly painted and reorganized scraproom. The chocolate brown/buttercream/tangerine color combo makes me think of the word Kenzie has been saying often after watching Backyardigans: Delectable! Scrumptious!

I bought a whole gallon of the orange color with the intention of painting a whole wall with it but I'm glad I changed my mind and decided on just painting all the accent wall hangings. This way, when I want a change, it'll be easy to switch it out with another color and a whole lot less work!

I got these wicker baskets at Michaels to organize & hide my stuff, they were 50% off last week, perfect timing.

These used to be blue/yellow/green/and pink!

This canvas was inspired by the cover of Ali's newest book - I'm going to add a picture of the kids once I get a good one taken.

I moved my target cubes to this wall. I keep all my pattern paper, cardstock and kits here.

Check out the chocolate colored wall, I love it!

I repainted these canvases. Inspired by aLove Elsie Zoe Soft Charm.

Got these at HL in the clearance isle for $3.40 several months ago.

My spot to hang layouts before I put them into albums. Ikea bar $4 and Target clips $1 spot.

So clean and organized, now if I can keep it that way!

3 things

Thought I'd do an Ali replica and post three things that inspireded me while surfing this morning.

1) Brenda Carpenter has posted some new Love Elsie layouts on her blog. I'm always inspired by her pages & her photos.

2) Prima's blog has a build-a-page sketch this week with great samples. I love flowers and their layouts are inspiring me to use some of my stash up.

3) HeroArts posted the winners from a card contest and i'm totally diggin the second place card "whoo hoo" I rec'd a free owl stamp from one of the kits I won during the WT's anniversary so I'm definitely going to lift this one.

I got my walls painted last night and I am so excited about it! Still have some touching up to do around the ceiling/doors/windows and I'm painting some canvases to accent it but I should be ready to unpack all my stuff and move back in by Friday. Whoo hoo!

Fabric Colors

I'm still deciding on a color palette for my room. I know I want Brown in it but not sure on the second color. I thought about brown/pink....or brown/cherry chocolate red....but maybe leaning towards a brown/tangerine. I'm just afraid it will make the room too dark. What do you think?

No painting done last night. I got the brushes and primer all set up but had to wait for Lam to come home from the shop to help me move the desk and bookcase & he didn't get home till after dark. So my MIL and I took the kids to the park and walked around the neighborhood. We pushed the kids in the double stroller then they wanted to get down and run.

Kenzie was playing pretend school like she always does and was showing me how I should jump. Micah watches intently and wants to play too, then he starts running all around doing his own funky moves with his foot and head bopping. I laughed so hard last night watching him.

Sunday morning Kenzie woke up came into my bedroom with her blanket in tow and said to me. "Mommy scoot over I want to sleep with you cut I need you, I love you, I'm your baby girl"

Reasons why I love being a mother.

My ScrapRoom

The only scrappy project I worked on this weekend was finishing up my May cards for the cardchicks swap. Saturday night as I was cleaning up the scraps I just got the urge to redo my entire room. Actually I was growing very tired of the lavendar/yellow walls for quite sometime but decided to do something about it right now.

I would never be a good interior designer. When we finished up our basement 3 years ago I thought it would be cool to have my scraproom in different primary shades of color on each wall. So I painted one wall a fire engine red, the other is the yellow you see....then the red gave me headaches so I ended up using the purple we had leftover from the other part of the basement. Not exactly my first choice but paint gets expensive so I made do.

Yesterday I emptied this entire room out and I plan to do an extreme makeover on it or paint job at least. I'm so excited to redo my studio. Here are the "BEFORE" pictures.

My Sewing Station & where I pile up finished pages and all the rest of my junk to be filed away someday.

Couple of Cards

The noteworthy card was a lift from Scrapbook Trends and the Together card was just thrown together using my scraps.

March in Review

I started with Brenda Carpenter's Design from the Scrap-room but changed how the flower paper was cut and ended up using a pagemaps sketch for the photo placement.

One Big Happy Family

I shamelessly and completely scraplifted this from Vicki Boutin. The girl just oozes with talent and I wouldn't have been able to use these swirl papers in a different way to do it justice.

Shots & Toys

I took Micah in for his 18 month checkup with Nurse Kelly yesterday. Micah is now 29lbs, 95% in weight and only 65% in height...we have a shorty among us. I am a mess when my kids get shots. They always cry and it's worse on me than it is on them. Micah doesn't like the laying down and being held down part. Just getting his height checked on the weighing scale, he hollars. So when it was time to stick him, I pulled out the guns. I put a pack of gum in his hands to distract him and sure enough, it worked like a charm. The nurse commented that he has a special mom giving him that treat but heck, it made it easy on the both of us.

After we got home and had dinner I took the kids to the mall. Kenzie needed a bang trim badly, they were getting so long in her eyes. I didn't get to browse at any of the stores, it's just impossible with a 3 yr old and 1 yr old running around. The Disney store had 25% off sale so I did get the kids a new pair of PJ's and they picked out these little remote cars, a Lightning McQueen and Cinderella car.

I was really hoping that with all the mall walking we did, they would be worn out & ready for bed early so i could scrap some more but no such luck...it was after 11pm before the lights were out.

I scrapped

I had so much fun working with the April kits from the scrap-room. Lots of bright fun colors, of course Scenic Route is my favorite but the old crate paper was also a delight.

New Cricut Font

I saw a post at WT that this is one of the new cricut cartridge fonts called Storybook. I haven't been too thrilled about the last few rounds of new releases but this one is a must have. It looks just like American Craft's Platform thickers! Cool!

April Card

I finished my cards for the card chicks swap at 2am this morning. It was a total scraplift from Kay Kalthoff. The embossed paper is Heidi Grace, SU stamps - Fun Pun set, and it was my attempt at using watercolored pencils that I just picked up from my lss last night. I think I need a little more practice, it looks like my 3 yr old colored it, LOL.

Received my TSR kit in the mail last night so I'm hoping after this weekend, I'll be able to crank out tons of layouts! Taxes are almost done!

Go Jayhawks!

My weekend flew by, I spent Friday night, Saturday night, and all day Sunday working on taxes and updating the accounting books for family.

The kids were hilarious yesterday. My MIL was looking through all my scrapbooks last night at 10pm and the kids were still wide awake. She found thier old projector book stuck behind the shelf. It's one that Kenzie rec'd when she was born that has all these little slides you can stick in the plastic projector and a book to read along. So Micah discovers it for the first time & boy oh boy was he laughing and excited. I wished I had my camera out. We turned down the lights and he saw the image projected on the wall and was trying to catch it! He was holding the projector in his hand and didn't realize that was where the light was shining from so he'd run after the image.

Lam was watching the final NCAA championship game. I'm not a sports fan at all but was interested because I had $5 riding on the bracket with a group of 37 other employees at work. The game went into OT and didn't finish until 11pm. Kenzie was next to me and was ready for bed. Her hand was in front of my face and I pushed it down so I could see the screen, she tells me " But Mommy, I thought you don't like soccer ball?" I laughed and said it's basketball honey..."I thought you don't like basketball?"

I normally don't watch but it was a great game! Go KU! First time in 20 years for winning the championship.

Blackjack

We had a lucky night. Went to the new First Council casino in Newkirk, OK. It just opened up on Feb 29th. I lost everything on the dollar slots then went to find Lam at the card table. I've never been good at cards, the dealer is pulling my cards away before I even get the chance to count the numbers in my head. But Lam told me to play with him so I just listened to his call. An hour later I made back all my loses and enough to cover my flight to Minneapolis, MN for the TSR retreat this summer. I was on the fence of going because of the airfare cost, hotel cost, and meeting room rental fee but I need a vacation so I'm treating myself.

We were home by 8pm, I put Micah to bed, then read books with Kenzie, then crashed myself. Tonight I'm working on filing tax returns again. The fun is over.

RAK's galore

March was a really good month for me in winning drawings. I usually never win but it was my lucky streak.

1) I won this pack of MM stickers from paperpopsicle when they hosted the bunny game at Willow Traders

2) I won this amazing collection of embellishments from Amber when she posted a layout question at the scrap-room.

3) I won this gorgeous and fun March kit from Tricia at CocoaDaisy just for answering the question of which design team member I would love to see on their site.

4) I won a transparent touches kit on the final week of Willow Trader's 3rd anniversary challenges.

5) I won the single page sketch layout challenge hosted by Gretchen at TSR

6) I also won the drawing from scrapdango for a ribbon dispenser but I was honest and declined my prize since I had already won from paper popsicles that week.

After winning so much fun stuff I decided to host a few RAK's myself. One is postal to a friend, one I'm giving for the DW Calendar challenge at the scrap-room, and one went to Edie at TSR for being the first to reply.

Lam and I are going to the casino tonight after work while mom takes care of the kids. He's been dying to go and thought w/ my lucky streak I should give it another try. So, here's hoping I make a good investment!

Sayings

Kenzie likes to pretend that she is sick, this is her daily routine:

Mommy, I am sick...I need to throw up..(cough, cough)
Now I need medicine, (pretends to swallow a pill)
Water please..(then slurps up a pretend straw from a pretend cup)

a minute later...

Mommy, my nose not working (meaning she has a stuffy nose & can't breath)
I need Baby Vicks, so I have to pretend to smuther some on her nose.

Kids and their imagination these days!

Micah calls for Sis-Ta all the time. It's cute when they're playing together and then get's irratating when Kenzie goes running around the house with some toy or candy in her hands and Micah is chasing after her crying for it. Can't believe my little boy is 18 months old already.

I've been spending way too much time at work looking at people's blogs and layouts. I can literally spend a whole day doing that. I've also been checking out other kit club galleries. I'm already subbed to two & don't need another but my sister in law just gave me an extra $150 to spend after she won the jackpot at the casino so I can't decide whether to splurge on more supplies or on a summer outfit. I really need new clothes but it's not as fun as getting new Scrap supplies!

Feb Scarlet Lime

I love the fun playing card included in our SL kits but mine was a king of hearts and I wanted to use it with this photo. I was going to title it something corny like "you are my missing queen of hearts, we make a complete suite" but I don't fit the picture of a king either. So I had to alter the card, I cut a new heart for the center, used my quikutz to punch out the Q and placed some MM letter stickers over the "K" after I used my white signo pen to cover it.
