Got Sketch 102 started this week with a warmup sketch. The kids were giving their dad a back massage for Father's Day...Micah was giving more of a neck/scalp massage.

Chalk and Mowing

Aunt Kim and Uncle Ryan bought the kids these giant sidewalk chalk sometime ago. I just opened it up for them to play yesterday. Kenzie liked playing hopscotch and Micha just liked getting his hands dirty. Then he tried to color the walls with it.

The boy just loves to mow the grass. Everyday he'll go to the back of the house where we keep the lawnmower and tell his daddy to cut the grass. He got his own mower for his 1st bday and pushes the thing around the house constantly.

She got a new pair of shoes to wear to school but being independent and stubborn, she won't let anyone help her tie the laces. They keep falling off and she gets frustrated...today she put them on backwards but wouldn't let grandma or mom fix it. She's already at a size 11 going on to size 12. Big FEET for a little girl.

August layouts

I signed up for another on-line scrapbooking class, it's called Got Sketch 102. It's a 4 week class beginning September 1st but the forum is already open this week with a beginning sketch challenge!

Here are a few items I made this weekend:

This is a little mini album to hold all the wallet pictures I took of Kenzie's 2nd b-day gifts. Great way to use up my scraps.

This is an altered altoid tin to hold pictures of my little nephew, soon to arrive next month!

1st Day of Preschool

She picked out her own backpak. I don't know why Target doesn't sell smaller ones for preschoolers, this one is bigger than Kenzie is!

Waiting outside for the teacher to open the doors.

After picking out her name from the table and sorting all the supplies into the bins, we got to play with paint! First I painted her hand, then she got to paint my hand for our handprints.

Then Daddy helped her roll out some playdoh shapes while the teacher went over the rules to all the parents.

It was a successful first day of preschool. The real test comes on Thursday when she has to go herself. I have a feeling we might have a crying spount like we did our first night at gymnastics tonight.

She had a new instructor and a room full of new students. She went in okay for the first 5 minutes then came crying out. When I asked her what was wrong she told me her nose was bleeding (which it wasn't); the second time, she told me I was sitting in the wrong chair and she couldn't see me; the 3rd time she said there were too many people there & she was scared; the 4th time she said there are boys in her class and she doesn't like boys; and the last time she came running out crying, it was time to go home.

Hidden Park

As a mom, I am constantly finding ways to entertain the kids. I take them to Burger King's playground, I take them to the library, I take them to our neighborhood park, I take them to the pool...whatever kills time and wears them out! My friend just told me about a park a mile from our house that I had no idea existed. I took the kids there Sunday afternoon and they loved it.

Anny's Wedding

The cake was beautiful...

Check out my date, isn't he a studmuffin?

My little princess with her new hair cut. She actually got a layered bob in the back. It's really cute on her!

My date left me for another girl. He has a bad crush on his cousin, Arianna, he kept on asking where's Anna all night.

Just me and the kids.

My cousin Bo and his g/f who gave the kids their free haircut. My cousin Anny and his new wife Amy. And my SIL and BIL.

Surprise Tuesday

I got home to find two packages for me in the mail. One was an awesome prize package full of fun new scrapbooking supplies from my friend Kim. And the other was totally unexpected, my friend Emily who I got to meet for the first time in Minnesota at the TSR retreat sent both of my kids some toys. When we were shopping together at the Mall of America a few weeks ago, I wanted to find something with Kung Fu Panda on it for Micah since he loves the character but didn't see anything. So she finds him a small backpack that is perfect for his size and a little dry erase board. Even Kenzie got a little pencil pouch with a set of cute erasers. The kids were so happy and excited, Micah wore his packpack the entire night.

I made some Thai Bubble Tea last night, haven't had it in a long time and it tasted GOOD!

School Shopping

This weekend, it was just the two girls, Kenzie and I school supply shopping. Yep, I can not believe my baby is going to preschool in less than 2 weeks. Her first day is Aug 19th and I get to go to St. Thomas with her on day 1. We had a whole list of things to get, crayons, washable markers, glue, dixie cups, napkins, etc. The usually stuff. She picked out her own PINK backpack which is bigger than she is. Everything was going well at Target until we went to the shoe isle. She's been sporting her flipflops from last year all summer long and has already outgrown all her winter shoes so I wanted to get her some new tennis shoes. There was a really cute and cheap on sale no brand name tennis shoes in pink and gray that she fit perfectly with room to spare. She was fine with getting it at first, I asked if she liked them, she said yes. So then I see another cute brown pair that would go great with some of the outfits and dresses she already owns so we try that on. She is already a size 12 in shoes. She didn't like it because she couldn't get it on herself. She wanted the one that was 3 times too big for her & I said she couldn't have it. So the whinning begins. I tell her to move on, we'll go somewhere else to look for it, I"m dragging her hand to the checkout lines and she starts crying really loud...bout, Mama, I want to get some shoes! Pretty soon she's in hysterics crying over a pair of shoes so I take her back to the shoe isle and 30 minutes later after trying on every pair, this is the one SHE picks out.

This is a typical evening, Kenzie going into her I'm "madding" at you phase when she doesn't get what she wants. She pouts, puts on this frown and goes off into a corner but makes sure to let you know that she's "madding". And Micah following her around and then apoligizing so Sish-Ter can play with him whether he did it or not.

And a few more layouts...

Random things

I uploaded a ton of pics this morning before work but they didn't save. Here is Kenzie holding onto her new leotard. On the last day of gymnastics the teacher gave away one t-shirt to whoever was the best listener and guess who that was? Yes, she was just beaming and had to show everyone. I let her pick out a new leo since the were on sale. I was proud because during the first week of gymnastics, she was the WORST listener, always running around & doing her own thing. The teacher was repeatedly calling her Kenzie, Kenzie, Kenzie sit down.

So this week she argued with us about sitting in her booster chair. She wanted to sit in her Dora one but her aunt had it so she was left with the old plain black one. She refused and we couldn't make her so I told her I was going to return her best listener t-shirt to her teacher. She whined the whole way home that she wanted to keep it so she would be a good girl now.

Micah's favorite song at the moment is "If you're gone" by Matchbox Twenty. Such a silly kid but it was on a CD in Lam's car and he loves the chorus and asks us to play it again and again. The words he says the most these days is "Sorry SiS-ter", because she makes him say that everytime she doesn't get her way or he takes her toy or he barely steps on her toes. This is always followed by a big hug and a kiss.

Nok's house is pretty much done so I don't get the extra 30 minutes every morning to sleep in. Gotta get the kids out the door at 7am to make it to work on time. I just signed up for a 5k run though work. This would mean nothing for someone who likes running but I've always hated it and could barely run a mile on my own. I signed myself up to keep myself motivated to exercise as I train for it. Our first practice group run is this Saturday. I hope I don't faint before I get to the finish line!
